Adoption Process
Adoption through Fly To Freedom Dog Rescue is open to individuals and families across the United States who meet our adoption requirements and are prepared to provide a safe, loving, and lifelong home for a dog in need.
Dog ownership is a lifetime commitment. Adopters must be prepared to provide for their dog’s ongoing needs, including food, toys, supplies, training, regular veterinary visits, vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and any unexpected medical care throughout the dog’s life.
An adoption fee is required and must be paid in full at the time of adoption. This fee is non-negotiable and helps us continue rescuing and caring for dogs in need.
While not a requirement for adoption, we strongly suggest purchasing pet health insurance with Fetch or Trupanion.
Adoption Requirements:
- Complete the adoption application
- Participate in a phone interview with our Adoptions Director
- Provide references of close friends and/or associates who can speak about the type of dog owner you are or will be
- Provide the name of your current (or potential) veterinary doctor and veterinary clinic where the dog will be treated
- Agree to make arrangements to pick up the dog in the town where he/she is being fostered
- Have all of the necessary dog supplies in your home and ready for your new friend when he/she arrives to your home for the first time
Applications are processed as quickly as possible, but the review and approval process may take up to one week. We appreciate your patience as our team works to ensure the best match for both you and the dog.
